On July 25, 2025, the Institute of Liberty and Economic Education (ILEE), in partnership with the University of Ghana’s Department of Philosophy and Classics, hosted the Campus Liberty Summit at the WACCI Conference Room. The event, themed “Free Minds, Free Markets: Shaping Ghana’s Future,” convened over 100 students, academics, and professionals. The summit aimed to introduce participants to libertarian principles and explore their relevance to Ghana’s development, with the goal of nurturing a new generation of leaders committed to individual liberty, limited government, and free markets.
The summit began with a welcome address from Dr. Stephen Morgan, an ILEE Senior Fellow, who outlined the event’s objectives.

Following this, Mr. Eric Coffie, President of ILEE, delivered a session on “Understanding Free Markets,” which focused on the foundational principles of free markets and their potential role in advancing development in Africa. His presentation prompted a lively debate among attendees.

Dr. Nancy Myles, an ILEE board member and senior fellow, then provided an in-depth look at the philosophical foundations of liberty in her session on “Libertarianism and African Philosophy.”

The event also featured a creative interlude with a poetry performance by Marcus Timpua Frimpong, who shared a piece on freedom and the human spirit that resonated deeply with the audience.

A subsequent panel discussion, hosted by Hussein Habibata, included speakers Joyce Asiedu, Eric Coffie, and Dr. Stephen Morgan. The panel addressed questions from participants and offered valuable insights related to the summit’s core themes.

During the event, Joyce Asiedu introduced the Campus Liberty Alliance (CLA) Chapter and encouraged students to join. The CLA is a student-led initiative dedicated to promoting liberty and free market principles on campus and beyond.

Mr. Eric Coffie concluded the summit with closing remarks, where he underscored the crucial role of free minds and free markets in shaping a prosperous future for Ghana. The event concluded with refreshments and networking.

This summit marks the second event in the Campus Liberty Series, a joint initiative by ILEE and the Atlas Network to engage students with the philosophy of liberty, individual rights and free markets. The first event was held earlier at the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
