CAPE COAST, GHANA – The Institute for Liberty and Economic Education (ILEE) University of Cape Coast (UCC) Chapter, in partnership with the Classics and Philosophy Students Association (CLAPSA), successfully hosted its highly anticipated Campus Liberty Summit last Friday, June 26, 2026. Held at the prestigious Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang Auditorium, the event ran from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, drawing a diverse audience of senior lecturers, student leaders, policy advocates, human rights activists, and undergraduate students.
The summit, organized under the theme “Advancing Economic Freedom and Human Rights in Contemporary Africa,” served as an intellectual hub introducing participants to the core tenets of classical liberalism, free-market economics, individual rights, and entrepreneurial innovation.
Distinguished speakers delivered powerful, action-oriented presentations:
- Dr. Eric Usifor, Senior Lecturer at UCC and Patron of the ILEE-UCC Chapter, opened the discourse with his address, “The Philosophy of Liberty: Reflections for Actions.”
- Mr. Eric Coffie, Founding President of ILEE, presented a compelling case on “Liberty and Free Enterprise: The Foundational Principles for a Free and Prosperous Africa”.
- Mr. Joe Dukeson, a social activist, challenged mainstream assumptions in a thought-provoking session titled, “Some Misconceptions of Freedom and Liberty.”
A major highlight of the day was an interactive student panel discussion moderated by Madam Joyce Asiedu, ILEE’s Director for Campus Programs. The panel, titled “How Prepared Are Students for the Real World of Liberty?” engaged student activists in a transparent debate on campus activism, institutional preparedness, and the market-ready leadership and communication skills necessary to navigate a free society.
The Institute extends its profound appreciation to the host patrons, the executive boards of both ILEE-UCC and CLAPSA, and the dedicated volunteers whose synergy ensured the summit’s resounding success
